European Observatory on the price of medicines

The European Observatory allows an overall price observation in European markets. The prices of medicines vary markedly among the European pharma markets, so pharmaceutical companies need to be aware of European price differentials.

The economic recession and the demographic problem, which has serious implications for the sustainability of social security schemes, forced the European countries to take measures to bring down the price of medicines purchased by public health systems, that are now under special stress due and public debt.

In the light of the above, Greece requested the establishment of a European Observatory on the price of medicines.
